Field Setup Instructions

All members should make themselves familiar with these field setup instructions, particularly in relation to prohibited areas and 'No-Fly' zones.

This field layout is part of our Code Of Conduct. It shows no fly zones (outlined by dotted red lines) and is also meant as a guide for those members that assist in laying out the field on flying days. The positioning of cone perimeter markers, signs and the windsock etc. are all indicated, and usually they are always in the same locations.

Our main variables are where the bungee launchers and flight line rope are located, because of wind direction. The long bungee is usually deployed in the northwest/southeast direction. The short bungee is used for southwest/northeast winds. Depending on the launch direction, the flight line rope is then located so that pilots can move behind the line easily after launching their model. In most instances, the rope is placed near the pit area.

Please note: The no fly zones for our field (outlined by dotted red lines above) must be adhered to at all times. Members should familiarise themselves with MAAA Manual of Procedures Rule 14 (MOP014) regarding the no fly zones and the 30 meter rule. These are on the MAAA web site.
