Welcome to Sunset Soaring Club

If you are interested in radio-controlled hand and bungee launched model gliders or electric powered sports and scale model aircraft in Sydney - then this is the place! Weather permitting, we fly every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at Golden Jubilee Oval, North Wahroonga (see the Directions page for a map). We warmly welcome visitors interested in our hobby and are very happy to assist you in choosing a model and getting it airborne - just come to the field any Sunday.

Some Photos from the 2009 XMAS Fun Day

The weather was almost perfect for our annual Christmas Family Fun Day on December 6, and thanks to John Ellis,
Mike Gallagher, Tony Brown and Paul Christianson the catering lived up to the very high standards of previous
fun days. Gary Andrews introduced a new and much simpler "All Up, Last Down" open glider competition which
everyone agreed was much more fun than our usual spot landing comp with its complicated scoring requirements.
There's a
small gallery of photos here - if you have some great photos of the day, please upload them to this gallery!

Recent Working Bee at Golden Jubilee

Thanks to the efforts of a small band of energetic members and the support of Ku-ring-gai Council, we now
have a power outlet near the pits at our Golden Jubilee field. Our sincere thanks to Allan Blair, Tony Brown,
John Frizza, Mike Gallagher, Chris Ryan, Robin Simpson, Peter Smith and Tim Wooller, and of course Mike
from Aussie Builder's Hire in Hornsby, and our electrician Steven Neander from Mr. Volts.

Robin & Tim re-fitting the digger chain after
the rocky soil made it fall off for the fifth time!

President Peter Smith wields the trenching shovel.
Some very rocky sections had to be dug by hand.

The 50 metre, 500 mm deep trench starts
at the southern baseball team shelter.

Looking towards the pits. After backfilling and a
careful tidy up, the trench is now hardly visible.
